For this reason we have designed a complete Mobile Data Computer application designed specifically to meet the rigorous demands of today's mobile law enforcement community.

A SOLID ARCHITECTURE
MDC-2020® is a 32-bit Windows application designed for the Windows 95, 98 or Windows NT environment.
A FLEXIBLE INTERFACE
MDC-2020® offers a specially designed Graphical User Interface (GUI). Each element of the interface was designed to optimize use in the mobile environment. Controls, such as buttons, scroll bars and text labels, are enlarged to allow quick recognition and easy activation. Other features of the interface include:
* Hot Button access to most common queries.
* Ability to open multiple windows at one time.
* Dedicated message window.
* 30 user-defined Quick Keys(tm).
COMPLETE SYSTEM SECURITY
Each user attempting to gain access to the MDC-2020® system must complete a security logon procedure. All attempts (successful & unsuccessful) to access the application are recorded in an administrative log file. In addition to system access security, the application also provides the following security features:
* Transaction authorization pre-defined for each user.
* User invoked system lock, preventing unauthorized access to the system via a single keystroke.
* Password protection for configuration utilities.
* Password protected interface shutdown.
ADVANCED TRANSACTION PROCESSING
The MDC-2020® system provides pre-formatted State/NCIC/NLETS transaction forms for "fill-in-th-blank" data entry. All forms provide complete on-line help for both fields and transactions. Additional features of the transaction forms are:
* Complete data validation for every field.
* Value lists for State/NLETS/NCIC data tables.
* Single button transmission.
* Highlighted mandatory fields.
ENHANCED OFFICER SAFETY
In the event that an officer is in distress and needs assistance, both the dispatcher and other units can be notified by a single keystroke. Maintaining radio silence so that criminals are not alerted to its activation, a pre-defined message is broadcast to a pre-defined group. The message may be formatted to include critical information, such as the unitıs location, provided by a Global Positioning System (GPS).
In addition, if a message is received that contains cautionary information, the officer can be notified by an audible alert. The system is fully configurable to sound an alert for words or phrases determined by the system administrator such as "wanted person," "stolen vehicle," etc.
USER-CONVENIENCE FEATURES
An impressive array of user-convenience features are provided to enhance the usability of the system. Some of these features include:
* Text-to-Speech - Reads aloud the content of any message received.
* Mobile Conferencing - Chat with multiple units simultaneously (logged at controller).
* Personal Mail - Send (and receive) personal mail to other users, units or groups.(MDCC-2020®)
* Automatically spawns inquiries (e.g., DQ) based on responses to previous inquiries (e.q., RQ).
* Automatically relays "hit" responses to other active units.(MDCC-2020®)
* Provides Virtual Keyboard for pen-based touch-screen support.
* Car-to-Car Messaging - Send messages to other units or groups of units within the system.
COMPLETE MESSAGE LOGGING
All network messages sent and received from the mobile application are automatically logged at the controller drive including P-Mail, conferencing and car-to-car messaging. Logging occurs as a background task and requires no intervention by the user. Local message logs may be searched and recalled from the log file via an integrated search utility.
