CommServ-2020 Communications Server Software
CommServ-2020TM is a high performance communications server that permits efficient access to a law enforcement, or other public safety network. CommServ-2020TM offers a central communications server with the ability to attach clients via a local area network (LAN). This permits a single connection point to the host network with multiple clients utilizing the services of the communications server.

The server handles all message and print services to and from its attached clients. In addition, CommServ-2020TM supports a wide variety of host protocols (i.e., TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, Netbios, PollSelect, BiSync) which enables it to run on a wide range of LAN operating systems, and offers a standard approach to configuration.

Some of the features of CommServ-2020TM include:

* Single point of connection to host network thereby reducing overhead associated with multiple data circuits.

* Directed printing - providing the capability of defining any station on the LAN to be another workstation's print destination.

* Broadcast Groups - allows the grouping of stations together to receive broadcasts. This allows a message to be transmitted to more than one workstation at a time. By selecting a group as the recipient, all workstations belonging to that group receive the message.

* The open architecture of CommServ-2020TM also provides the capability to add a mobile data computer controller, or a web-server. In these configurations, the mobile data computer controller or web-server is defined as a single node on the network (LAN) that supports multiple downstream workstations.

CommServ-2020TM can be integrated with other applications such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management systems. This permits access to the law enforcement network from within the external application.

The current version of CommServ-2020TM is designed for the WindowsTM 95 and WindowsTM NT operating systems. This 32-bit application provides a user-friendly interface and configuration utility. Administrators are able to quickly configure the communication functionality as well as define each client that will be utilizing the services of CommServ-2020TM.
